Fences are a great way to keep pets and kids in and can help keep unwanted wildlife out. Here's what you need to know about building a fence on your property.

Residential Properties

A Development Permit is NOT required for the following:

  • A fence that is six (6) feet or less in height from the front of the house to the rear of your lot
  • A fence that is three (3) feet or less from the front of the house to the front of the lot

A Development Permit is required for the following:

  • A fence that exceeds six (6) feet in the rear of the property
  • A fence that exceeds three (3) feet in the front of the property

Building permits are not required for fences. Note that properties on a corner lot may require a corner cut-off to ensure sightlines are maintained.

Non-Residential Properties

The following is required for construction of fencing on non-residential properties:
