Home Owner Permits
As a homeowner, you can obtain your own permits for:
- Building
- Electrical work
- Plumbing
- Gas installations
These permits are available if:
- You are the owner.
- You reside in the home.
- You are registered as an owner builder under the New Home Buyer Protection Act.
Restrictions
Homeowner permits do not cover:
- Grid interconnected wind and solar arrays and their electrical installations.
- Installations on properties without a residence.
- Temporary construction power.
Contractor Work
If you are hiring a contractor:
- You or your contractor can apply for permits.
- It may be more appropriate for the contractor to apply for the permits.
