
It Takes a Volunteer
Volunteers are the heart of our communities.
The It Takes a Volunteer appreciation program recognizes and highlights the commitment of volunteers throughout the County who have donated their time, skills, and knowledge to benefit our residents and communities.
The outstanding contributions of our many volunteers are an important part of what makes the County of Grande Prairie a great place to work, live, and play!
2023 'It Takes a Volunteer' Nominee Hall of Fame
Nominate a Volunteer!
We want to highlight individual volunteers, a team of volunteers or an organization making a difference in our communities through volunteerism.
Starting February 1, nominations can be made in the following categories:
- Individual volunteers
- A group or team of volunteers (three or more)
- Organizations
Qualifying nominees will receive an It Takes a Volunteer appreciation package and will be highlighted during National Volunteer Week. Up to three exceptional nominees will also be featured in videos highlighting their contributions.

Volunteers must be nominated for a role that is unpaid. Volunteers must make a difference in the lives of County of Grande Prairie residents by volunteering for an organization in a role that is based in the County or that provides services to County residents.
Three or more volunteers from one organization must be nominated as a team.
While we recognize that some nominators would like to surprise a volunteers with the recognition of their service, we highly recommend connecting with the volunteer, the team or group or the organization prior to submitting this form to get a full summary of their volunteer commitments. All nominees will be highlighted during National Volunteer Week and may be chosen to be featured in a short video about why volunteering is important to them. |
The Benefits of Volunteering
Volunteers describe many personal benefits beyond giving back to their community, including the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, and share their interests and hobbies with others. Volunteerism can enhance job applications and further careers, as well as positively impact mental health and wellbeing. There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the County to fit any schedule or interest.
