
Recreation Events and Programs
We host year-round programs and events that focus on outdoor recreation and the environment. We want to help you be healthy, happy, and connected with nature.
We offer:
- Recreation Fee Assistance to ensure all residents have access to recreation opportunities.
- Recreation and Culture grants to help community organizations.
- Programs for families, youth, and adults.
Get out and explore all the County has to offer this Winter with snowshoe rentals!
- Rental Season is 'Whilst there is snow on the ground'.
- Renters may pay the Rental Fee and provide a credit card pre-authorization, cheque or cash for the Security Deposit at the time of Pick Up.
- The Security deposit may be withheld if the snowshoes are not returned in a timely fashion or if they are damaged during the course of the rental.
- Pick up/Drop off is during regular hours at the Community Services Building, 10808 100 Ave Clairmont. Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM 4:30 PM, closed from noon -1 PM.
- $10.00 Rental fee per pair for daily rentals plus a $50.00 Refundable Security Deposit.
- Daily rentals must be returned by 4:30 PM the day following the rental.
- $15.00 Rental fee per pair for weekend rentals plus a $50.00 refundable Security Deposit.
- Weekend rentals must be returned by 4:30 PM the Monday following the rental.
- $50.00 Rental fee per pair for full week rental (7 days) plus a $50.00 refundable Security Deposit.
- Full week rentals must be returned by 4:30 PM on last day of rental.
- Snowshoes are available on a First Come, First Served basis. You may get a larger size than you initially request.
- Three sizes are available. Large - up to 300 lbs. Medium - up to 200 lbs. Small - up to 150 lbs.
- Group rentals (more than 6 pairs) must be arranged separately by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department at 780 532 9727.
Programs and Events
Heirloom Seeding Starting Workshop
April 5, 2023, from 6PM-8PM
Learning to grow your own garden transplants can be a rewarding and relaxing hobby. Even if you have never gardened before, join us for this introductory workshop where you will learn about starting seeds indoors, planting media, grow lights and how to care for your new seedlings.
Whether you plan to have a few pots on the deck or grow food for friends and family, we are here to help show you where to start. Workshop includes nursery planting supplies and resources to seed and take home 18 varieties of heritage seed tomatoes and flowers.

BearSmart Outdoor Safety Course
April 19, 2023, from 6PM-7:30PM
This public awareness program aims to reduce conflict between bears and people.
Join Courtney Hughes from the Government of Alberta for this public awareness session to reduce the conflict between bears and people.
In this public awareness session you will learn about the difference between black and grizzly bears, bear safety information for living in bear country, use of bear deterrents and strategies to reduce the conflict between bears and humans.

Raised Bed Gardening Class
May 3, 2023, from 6PM-8PM
This class will show gardeners how to build a raised bed garden this spring and grow healthy food in their own small space. No more weeding in clay or watering all weekend. Save hundreds of dollars on your grocery budget while creating an enjoyable, zenful space to grow organic, fresh, healthy food.
Each student will create a basic landscape design sketch to choose the best placement in the microclimate for raised bed gardening. Students will also learn the best products, soils and watering systems to use while also learning the cultural requirements to grow happy, healthy plants over a longer growing season.

Kids Plants & Pollinators Workshop
June 3, 2023, from 11AM-12PM
Learn about recycling containers or flower pots, how to plant seeds and take care of the plant as it germinates and grows as well as the importance of pollinators in our gardens. Workshop includes seeds, pots, soil and colouring resources.
