Elections
2025 Municipal Election
The next Municipal Election will be held on October 20, 2025.
Elections will be held for the nine (9) Councillor positions, one from each of the nine (9) electoral divisions. The Chief Elected Official (otherwise known as the Reeve) is elected from amongst its members at the annual Organizational Meeting.
Elections will be conducted in accordance with the Local Authorities Election Act and other applicable municipal bylaws and policies.

Voter Identification |
Voters will be required to have a valid government issued photo ID to vote. For example, an Identification Card issued by a Canadian government, federal, provincial or local, or an agency of that government, that contains a photograph of the person. The following are other examples of acceptable forms of photo ID a voter can use:
If you are an Alberta resident who can legally live in Canada and do not have a valid government issued photo ID, you can apply for an ID card to use as photo identification by visiting Registry Services. |
Register to Vote - *New |
Voters will be required to register to vote in Municipal Elections as per proposed changes to the Local Authorities Election Act (Bill 20 – Municipal Affairs Statutes Amendment Act, 2024). The voters list will be provided to the County under a Data Sharing Agreement with Elections Alberta. Voters are encouraged to register to vote by visiting Elections Alberta in advance of the election. |

The County will be hiring election workers in a variety of positions. Applications will be available on the County website starting January 2025. Qualifications/Assets:

2017 Municipal Election |
Just over 3,400 County of Grande Prairie residents cast their ballots during the 2017 Municipal Election, an eligible voter turnout of 24 per cent.
